Driving sustainable digital growth through digital development and collaborative partnerships.

MISSION

The ICT Association Suriname focuses on supporting the Surinamese society and economy to accelerate and facilitate the development of Suriname with and through ICT.

VISION

Together with our members, in collaboration with all ICT stakeholders, we want to be the core of the digital economy in Suriname.

GOALS 2024-2025

  1. The ICT-As is the pivot in the ICT sector in Suriname by creating and/or amending the relevant policies and procedures to reach their intended goal(s). This involves lobbying for favorable policies, regulations, and investments that support the sustainable growth and innovation in the sector.
  2. The ICT-As collaborates with all its (internal/external) stakeholders through which there is an interchange of expertise and resources in order to drive innovation and technology transfer.
  3. The ICT-As creates an ecosystem through which commercialization (idea-product-service) and profit for its members is enabled. Supporting the growth and competitiveness of members by providing market intelligence, research, and strategic insights.
  4. The ICT-As integrates the private sector, the public sector, and the community to identify the ICT gaps of Suriname, and supports the development of strategies and tactics for the sustainable (SDGs) and inclusive development, and accessibility of ICT in and for Suriname.

QUICK FACTS

The ICT Association Suriname is the trade organization of ICT companies in Suriname. The ICT Association Suriname and its members are convinced that ICT will provide the solution for working together towards sustainable diversification of our economy through a clear vision, sound leadership and implementation of plans. ICT is the enabler of development within all sectors.

We have 71 members, all of whom are KKF registered companies and have ICT as their core business. Our members employ approximately 2000 people. About 70% of Suriname’s economy is supported by the ICT Sector. ICT is indispensable for the survival, development, and growth of every other sector.

The ICT-As focuses on supporting the Surinamese society and economy to facilitate and accelerate the development of Suriname with and through ICT. Since its establishment on January 20, 2011, we have been working on the basis for a future-proof structure of the sector.

In this context, the ICT Summits were organized in 2013, 2014 and 2015 and 2023 with the aim of introducing the Surinamese society to, among other things, ICT service providers and developments. In 2015, we launched the ICT Vision 2020 and in 2016, together with various stakeholders, including business organizations and government representatives, we created roadmaps for the realization of the goals set in our Vision 2020. In 2019, the Digital Impact Suriname event was organized with the aim is to provide a platform for new business impulses, knowledge exchange and peer networks for everyone who wants to actively participate in Suriname’s digital transformation. In 2020, we entered into a Memory of Understanding with ICT associations from five other countries, namely Belize, Grenada, Barbados, St. Lucia and Guyana.

During the first 10 years of our existence, we mainly focused on raising awareness about the potential of the digital economy. Over the next 10 years we want to focus mainly on the diversification of our economy through ICT.
